In May of 1998, Pastor Terry and Joanie excitedly began Change of Heart Worship Center and held their first service. As the church grew, three moves were made until a beautiful facility was built on Holly Lane in Cuba, Missouri. Since 1998, Change of Heart has experienced many different seasons and in 2017, Pastor Terry and Joanie made the difficult decision to step down from pastoring enabling them to embark on the new journey of guest speaking engagements while continuing their roles as Camp Director and Guest Relations Director at the beautiful Salvation Army Camp Mihaska in rural Bourbon, Missouri.
When Terry shares his heartfelt testimony audiences are touched and encouraged in their faith. After losing his mother suddenly at the young age of 9 years old, Terry spent many years living at different homes. When he reached his teen years, he found himself in engulfed in alcohol addiction while searching for the goodness of God his mother had taught him as a young boy. However, in 1991 following a painful divorce and desiring to change his life for himself and his young son Matthew, he surrendered his life to Christ and found for himself the truth of God's goodness, forgiveness and love.
Joanie has a sweet testimony of restoration. At the age of 17 years old she was hit by a drunk driver and her life physically and emotionally became an everyday battle she faced each time she looked in the mirror. The following years brought anxiety, panic attacks, health issues, divorce and the never ending heartache of not being able to have children. But, as shared in the word of God, the cross has the final word and the heavenly Father gave her a beautiful family through her marriage to Terry and the miracle of adoption, not once, but twice.
Terry and Joanie reside in Bourbon, Missouri.
